CVE-2026-98753 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: tty_port: restore TTY_IO_ERROR on activation failure Make sure to restore the TTY_IO_ERROR flag if activation fails to prevent I/O attempts on a port that is gone or powered down. This specifically avoids issues like kernel panic due to unclocked accesses or NULL-pointer dereferences when accessing powered down or deregistered ports when a TTY ioctl races with hangup and open. Note that the flag is set again in tty_port_close() but not restoring it on activation failure leaves a window where drivers fail to handle the ioctl-hangup race.
CVE-2026-98752 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: port: fix tty_port_tty_vhangup() race Drivers rely on tty_port_tty_vhangup() to synchronously hang up their ports before tearing down resources as part of deregistration (e.g. on physical disconnect). If tty_port_tty_vhangup() races with another hangup it may however return before the port has been shut down. This is in turn can lead to use-after-free and NULL-pointer dereferences in racing ioctls (including a synchronous hangup) and in processing of racing asynchronous hangups (carrier loss). Add the missing serialisation to tty_port_tty_vhangup() and tty_port_hangup() so that the former does not return until the port has been shut down also when there is a racing hangup. Note that serial core does not use tty_port_hangup(), but it already holds the port mutex when clearing port->tty and shutting down the port in uart_hangup().
CVE-2026-98751 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: abort break signalling on hangup The break ioctls can race with hangup and end up calling into a tty driver for a device that is already gone or powered down. Drivers must handle this race, but TCSBRK and TCSBRKP should still be aborted to avoid calling back into the driver after a user-controlled timeout (possibly even after the tty has been reopened). Note that drivers should disable any break state on shutdown so just return on hangup (calling break_ctl() again is racy and will most likely fail for drivers handling the race).
CVE-2026-98750 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 4.7 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: fix saved termios reset race Resetting saved termios state on device registration is needed where a minor number can be reused for an entirely different device and where the old settings may prevent the port from even being opened (e.g. when CLOCAL is not set). Not all TTY drivers guarantee that the minor number is no longer in use when registering devices however, something which can lead to a use-after-free when closing a TTY (and saving its termios) races with re-registration. Add a new TTY_DRIVER_RESET_SAVED_TERMIOS flag to request that any saved termios state is reset on registration and only set it for drivers that make sure that the minor number is no longer in use.
CVE-2026-98697 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: fix dynamic id driver deregistration race Only free the dynamic ids after having deregistered the driver and removed the "new_id" attribute to avoid leaking any id added by a racing write to the attribute.
CVE-2026-98669 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: buffer: serialize buffer teardown with mode claims Buffer-mode claims hold mlock to guarantee that the device remains in buffer mode until the claim is released. Normal buffer updates take info_exist_lock followed by mlock in iio_update_buffers(). However, iio_device_unregister() disables and deactivates all buffers without taking mlock. This can invalidate buffer state, including active_scan_mask, while a buffer-mode claim is held. Take mlock in iio_disable_all_buffers() so that unregister honors the mode-claim lifetime guarantee. The info_exist_lock -> mlock ordering matches iio_update_buffers().
CVE-2026-98297 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_core: Fix queuing tx_work after workqueue is drained hci_send_acl(), hci_send_sco() and hci_send_iso() queue hdev->tx_work unconditionally. They can run from the L2CAP/SCO/ISO socket send path while hci_dev_close_sync() is draining hdev->workqueue (HCIDEVDOWN racing with a socket write). Since that queue_work() is not chained work from the tx_work worker itself, __queue_work() sees the queue marked __WQ_DRAINING, warns "cannot queue %ps on wq %s", and drops the work: WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 5985 at kernel/workqueue.c:2352 __queue_work Call Trace: queue_work_on l2cap_chan_send l2cap_sock_sendmsg ... hci_dev_close_sync() already sets HCI_CMD_DRAIN_WORKQUEUE before draining, but only hci_cmd_work() and handle_cmd_cnt_and_timer() check it before queuing. Route the tx_work producers through the same guard via a shared hci_sched_tx() helper.
CVE-2026-98099 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: mcast: use rcu_assign_pointer() for __rcu list updates Several places in net/ipv6/mcast.c update RCU-protected lists (np->ipv6_mc_list, idev->mc_list, idev->mc_tomb) using direct pointer assignments instead of rcu_assign_pointer(): 1. In __ipv6_dev_mc_dec(), unlinking a group from idev->mc_list did: *map = ma->next; without rcu_assign_pointer() while concurrent readers traverse idev->mc_list locklessly under rcu_read_lock(). 2. In ipv6_sock_mc_drop() and __ipv6_sock_mc_close(), unlinking a group from np->ipv6_mc_list directly assigned *lnk = mc_lst->next and np->ipv6_mc_list = mc_lst->next without rcu_assign_pointer(), racing with lockless readers in inet6_mc_check(). 3. In __ipv6_sock_mc_join(), mc_lst->next was initialized to np->ipv6_mc_list via raw assignment before publishing mc_lst. 4. In mld_del_delrec() and __ipv6_dev_mc_inc(), __rcu source pointers passed into rcu_assign_pointer() lacked explicit dereference helpers. Fix these by consistently using rcu_assign_pointer() along with mc_dereference() / sock_dereference().
CVE-2026-97960 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/x86/intel: Prevent drain_pebs() reentry The PEBS buffer is shared by all events on a CPU, so drain_pebs() must not be reentered. If so, one instance may observe stale buffer state and potentially access out-of-bound memory. Most invocations happen in NMI context, which naturally prevents reentry. However, drain_pebs() is also reachable from process context via intel_pmu_drain_pebs_buffer(). In those paths, the PMU is often already disabled, but not guaranteed. For example, __intel_pmu_pebs_disable() only disables the target counter, so other active counters can still raise a PMI and interrupt an in-flight drain_pebs(). Here is an example, __perf_addr_filters_adjust() perf_event_stop() __perf_event_stop() x86_pmu_stop() (event->pmu->stop) intel_pmu_disable_event() intel_pmu_pebs_disable() __intel_pmu_pebs_disable() intel_pmu_drain_large_pebs() intel_pmu_drain_pebs_buffer() Introduce __intel_pmu_quiesce() and __intel_pmu_resume() helpers and use them in intel_pmu_drain_large_pebs() to disable the full PMU around the intel_pmu_drain_pebs_buffer() call, preventing reentry. Also add a warning in intel_pmu_drain_pebs_buffer() when the full PMU is not disabled.
CVE-2026-93221 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 8.1 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: convert nfsd_net boolean flags to unsigned long flags word nfsd_net contains several boolean fields that are accessed from concurrent contexts without serialization. In particular, nfsd4_end_grace() guards its drain path with a plain bool: if (nn->grace_ended) return; nn->grace_ended = true; The read and the write are independent, and nothing in struct nfsd_net serializes them. At least two contexts can reach this code with no lock held: laundromat path laundry_wq kworker nfs4_laundromat() nfsd4_end_grace() RECLAIM_COMPLETE path nfsd compound kthread nfsd4_reclaim_complete() inc_reclaim_complete() nfsd4_end_grace() Both callers can observe grace_ended == false on different CPUs, both store true, and both proceed into nfsd4_record_grace_done(), which invokes the active client_tracking_ops->grace_done callback. For tracking ops that drain reclaim_str_hashtbl (legacy_tracking_ops via nfsd4_recdir_purge_old, and the cld v1+ ops via nfsd4_cld_grace_done), grace_done calls nfs4_release_reclaim(), which walks every bucket of reclaim_str_hashtbl with no lock and calls nfs4_remove_reclaim_record() (list_del + kfree) on each entry. Two concurrent walkers corrupt the list and double-free every nfs4_client_reclaim. A concurrent nfsd4_find_reclaim_client() iterating the same bucket reads through freed memory. A third call site exists in nfs4_state_start_net() on the skip_grace startup path, but it runs under nfsd_mutex before any client has connected and before the laundromat's first delayed work fires, so it cannot race with the two callers above. Replace the scattered boolean fields in nfsd_net with a single unsigned long flags word and an enum nfsd_net_flag for the bit positions. The grace_ended race is fixed by using test_and_set_bit(), which is atomic on all architectures. The remaining flags (grace_end_forced, in_grace, somebody_reclaimed, track_reclaim_completes, nfsd_net_up, lockd_up) are converted to use test_bit/set_bit/clear_bit for consistency. This avoids sub-word cmpxchg issues on architectures like Hexagon that only support word-sized atomic operations.
CVE-2026-93216 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/page_owner: use memcg_data snapshot to avoid TOCTOU in print_page_owner_memcg() print_page_owner_memcg() reads page->memcg_data via READ_ONCE() at the start to guard against tail pages and NULL data. However, it later re-reads page->memcg_data locklessly in two places: 1: page_memcg_check(page) 2: PageMemcgKmem(page) (via folio_memcg_kmem(), which includes VM_BUG_ON assertions for tail pages and MEMCG_DATA_OBJEXTS) If the page is concurrently freed and reallocated as a THP tail page or slab page between these calls, the VM_BUG_ON assertions can trigger on CONFIG_DEBUG_VM=y builds, crashing the kernel. Fix both TOCTOU issues by using the memcg_data snapshot throughout.
CVE-2026-93150 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cgroup/cpuset: Make nr_deadline_tasks an atomic_t The nr_deadline_tasks variable in the cpuset structure was introduced by commit 6c24849f5515 ("sched/cpuset: Keep track of SCHED_DEADLINE task in cpusets"). It is reported by sashiko [1] that nr_deadline_tasks can currently be modified by inc_dl_tasks_cs() under rq->lock and by cpuset_attach() under cpuset_mutex. So if both updates happen simultaneously, the nr_deadline_tasks variable can be corrupted leading to incorrect operations down the road. Fix that by changing its type to atomic_t so that nr_deadline_tasks are always atomically updated. This fix patch is a low hanging fruit. It can handle some of the races between a concurrent sched_setscheduler() and cpuset_can_attach()/cpuset_attach() calls, but not all of them like the other issue raised by sashiko [2]. This will be handled hopefully in a future follow up patch. CVE-2026-92485 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix WARNING in bpf_tracing_link_release The trampoline could be corrupted by the blindly 'tr->flags = BPF_TRAMP_F_TAIL_CALL_CTX' in verifier. 1. A fexit attached to a tail_call_reachable prog. 'tr->flags' became 'BPF_TRAMP_F_CALL_ORIG | BPF_TRAMP_F_TAIL_CALL_CTX'. And, the trampoline would poke the target prog's nop insn using jmp insn instead of call insn. 2. Another fexit loaded with the same tail_call_reachable prog target. 'tr->flags' became 'BPF_TRAMP_F_TAIL_CALL_CTX'. 3. Close the first fexit link. Due to no BPF_TRAMP_F_CALL_ORIG in 'tr->flags', the trampoline will fail to restore the prog's nop insn using call insn. [ 3.428793] bpf_link_free+0x58/0x130 [ 3.429293] bpf_link_release+0x23/0x30 Fix the warning by updating 'tr->flags' with '|=' and lock.
CVE-2026-90383 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: sgi-gru: remove interrupt-context page-table walks The GRU TLB miss handler walks a process's page tables without holding page-table locks or a reference to the mapped page. It also uses a kernel page-table accessor on user page tables and supports only PMD-level large mappings on x86-64. Remove the direct walker. Send interrupt faults directly to user polling mode so the existing call-OS fallback retries them in process context. Remove the mmap-lock failure statistic that can no longer be incremented.
CVE-2026-90367 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 8.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7996: hold dev->mt76.mutex while disabling tx worker in SER mt7996_mac_reset_work() parked the tx worker and disabled the RX/TX NAPIs before taking dev->mt76.mutex. mt76_worker_disable()/_enable() are plain kthread park/unpark, not refcounted, and __mt76_set_channel() toggles the same worker and the MT76_RESET bit under the mutex. An L1 SER racing a channel switch could therefore have the worker unparked and MT76_RESET cleared while the reset path resets the DMA rings, corrupting descriptors or tokens. Take the mutex before disabling the worker, as mt7915 does.
CVE-2026-90322 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2/cluster: keep heartbeat local node stable o2nm_node_local_store() handles local=0 by stopping o2net and setting cl_local_node to O2NM_INVALID_NODE_NUM, but it leaves cl_has_local set. That stale state makes o2nm_this_node() return 255, blocks a later local=1 attempt with -EBUSY, and can feed 255 to heartbeat users that call o2nm_this_node() dynamically. Clearing cl_has_local is required when the local node is reset. But heartbeat threads can still be running at that point. They pin the local node config item at startup, yet o2hb_do_disk_heartbeat() and thread teardown re-read o2nm_this_node() for the local slot and for o2nm_undepend_this_node(). Once local=0 has cleared the live local-node state, those dynamic reads return O2NM_MAX_NODES, which is also the invalid node number 255. Store the local node number in the heartbeat region when the region starts. Use that stable node for heartbeat slot writes/checks, negotiation messages, and the final configfs undepend. Stop the heartbeat loop when the current local node no longer matches the stored node, and clear cl_has_local together with cl_local_node in the local=0 path so nodemanager state matches node removal. CVE-2026-90206 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvmet: fix max_qid race between configfs and controller allocation The function nvmet_subsys_attr_qid_max_store() can race against nvmet_alloc_ctrl() when a subsystem's max_qid limit is modified. Suppose max_qid is currently 64. If nvmet_alloc_ctrl() executes: ctrl->sqs = kzalloc_objs(struct nvmet_sq *, subsys->max_qid + 1); and at this exact point, a userspace process changes max_qid to 128, nvmet_subsys_attr_qid_max_store() will set the new max_qid value. It attempts to delete active controllers to force a reconnect, but the new controller won't be deleted because it hasn't been added to the subsys->ctrls list yet. nvmet_alloc_ctrl() then proceeds and adds the new controller to the subsys->ctrls list. Later, when nvmet_install_queue() is called, it will see max_qid set to 128, but the memory allocated for sqs is only sized for 64 entries. This results in a KASAN out-of-bounds warning and potential memory corruptions. Fix this by protecting the queue allocations and list insertion in nvmet_alloc_ctrl() with down_read(&nvmet_config_sem). Because nvmet_subsys_attr_qid_max_store() acquires down_write(&nvmet_config_sem) to modify the attribute, this safely prevents the configfs writer from modifying max_qid during controller creation. Copy the max_qid from the subsystem to the controller's structure during the allocation; ctrl->max_qid never changes as long as the controller remains in LIVE state, so this will prevent similar race conditions.
CVE-2026-90167 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: serialize oplock close with pending break ownership close may abort an in-flight oplock break while another breaker already holds an opinfo reference. Releasing pending_break wakes that waiter, but without serializing the close transition with bit acquisition it can become a new break owner through the test_and_set_bit() fast path. It can then overwrite OPLOCK_CLOSING with OPLOCK_ACK_WAIT and continue a break for a dying opinfo. Make OPLOCK_CLOSING terminal once the opinfo is removed from the inode list. Serialize that transition, pending_break acquisition, and OPLOCK_ACK_WAIT setup with an opinfo state lock. A breaker which loses the race releases its ownership and returns -ENOENT. Explicitly wake pending_break waiters during close so they can observe the terminal state. Also prevent ACK and timeout paths from replacing OPLOCK_CLOSING with OPLOCK_STATE_NONE.
CVE-2026-90106 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: arp/nd proxy: fix reading neigh ha Currently neigh ha address is read directly, but that can result in torn/partial reads if the neigh is being updated. Use neigh_ha_snapshot to take a stable snapshot of the address.
CVE-2026-90084 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: octeontx2-vf: fix workqueue and netdev race in probe/remove Initialize the VF workqueue before register_netdev() so ndo_set_rx_mode does not queue work on a NULL workqueue. Unregister the netdev before destroying the workqueue, and add proper probe error cleanup.
